![]() The Art of Elysium Children’s Programs are founded on the belief that the arts have the potential to make a wide-reaching and beneficial impact on ill children. Access to artistic experiences helps distract pediatric patients from the difficulties and anxieties they may face, while caring guidance from adult artist-mentors encourages and facilitates mastery of skills, increases self-esteem and promotes healthy development in spite of medical challenges. All the while, sharing of the creative process in such critical settings teaches both patient and artist the many ways in which the arts are a vitally important part of community well-being. By combining the expertise of working artists, psychologists, clinical arts therapists and child development specialists, The Art of Elysium provides a broad range of creative arts experiences that support patients and families during periods of illness or hospitalization, while simultaneously responding to the identified needs of medical establishments. Art of Elysium partners with hospitals and healthcare facilities to: • Provide creative, interactive workshops/individual experiences free of charge; • Offer arts and entertainment programming for special events; • Assist with the provision of arts-related materials, services and non-cash resources; • Facilitate on-going instruction in the fine and performing arts to specially referred pediatric patients. Through the Art of Elysium Programs, Artists and Volunteers have the opportunity to work with children, adolescents and families in inpatient and outpatient environments. Volunteers may have the chance to work with a small or large group of children in a playroom or outpatient setting as well as the opportunity to work with one or two children at bedside or in a smaller identified work space.
